Moving Rates

Many people who move for the first time wonder exactly how a mover charges for their services. Here's an overview of the moving rates at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Metro St. Louis. Please note there are some differences in our Illinois and Missouri policies due to the differences in regulations of their respective states.  

Local Moves

Local services are provided in accordance with our Missouri Tariff of Rates and Charges and Illinois Tariff of Rates and Charges on file and viewable in our respective offices. All household goods moving companies in Missouri must be licensed by the Missouri Department of Transportation, Motor Carrier Services and all household goods moving companies in Illinois must be licensed by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

• Local services such as moving, packing, unpacking and Internal moving are performed by the hour. We have a 1 hour minimum, after which we charge in 15 minute increments.
• For Missouri moves, a one-time service charge will get our men to and from our office, and there are no extra charges or surcharges for fuel or specialty items.
• For Illinois moves, the time begins when our movers leave our office and ends when they return to the office. Movers are equipped with GPS for the fastest routes. You will not be charged for time if we get lost, or if there is an error on our part.
• We offer our lowest rates Monday through Thursday, and we charge a premium rate on Sunday.
• Most moves can be scheduled over the phone or via online estimate, and our skilled Customer Service Representatives can determine how long your move will take based on the information you provide.
• Our rates include the movers, a modern and efficient 26’ moving truck with air-ride suspension, moving pads and equipmen, basic tools for minor disassembly/reassembly and Standard Valuation (valuation amount varies based on state - your customer service representative will be happy to review this with you).

Many moving companies have lower hourly rates, but they charge extra fees for standard moving supplies and services. When shopping other companies, make sure you’re comparing apples-to-apples. Ask what additional costs you could incur on move day and make sure the company is licensed and insured. You’ll often find that once these items are factored in, our prices will be extremely competitive and of superior value.

Packing

Packing service performed in Missouri is billed at an hourly rate. Our packing services include all the boxes and materials needed to pack an entire home or business.

Packing services in Illinois are provided in accordance with our Illinois Tariff of Rates and Charges. Services are charged per container (i.e. box) and include the cost of materials and labor.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Metro St. Louis guarantees the safety of all items that we pack and move. We can pack one room or an entire home or office. Discuss your packing needs with one of our Customer Service Representatives and we will provide you with an estimated cost of services. We do not cover damage to items we did not pack.

Load or Unload Only

Loading and unloading services are billed at an hourly rate. If we are loading a vehicle other than our own, you will be responsible for providing moving pads. You can purchase pads through our store or provide your own. Stretch-wrap is included in the hourly rate.

Long-Distance Moves

We offer long-distance moving, including Missouri and Illinois intrastate (moving within one state) moves and interstate (moving across state lines) moves.

For your long-distance move, we offer exclusive use of our vehicle, a guaranteed pick-up and delivery date, and a promise that your items will never leave our possession, be transferred to another truck or put in a warehouse. Your items will be loaded onto our truck, driven directly to your destination and unloaded - all by the same driver, from start to finish. You can contact your driver at any time during the move to check their location, or should you be making the drive, advise on traffic conditions.

We also provide binding moving cost estimates so there are no surprises! No complicated weight, mileage, extras or hidden fees. Simply choose a valuation option that suits you - and off you go!

Whether it’s one couch to Chicago or an entire household to California, we move it exclusively on our truck with our Metro St. Louis employees - from start to finish.

Intrastate services of household goods are provided in accordance with the Missouri Movers Association Tariff No. 2, issued by Missouri Movers Association and prepared by Middlewest Motor Freight Bureau on file and viewable in our office.

Interstate services of general freight and/or household goods are provided in accordance with the item 40 of the J&C Enterprises Relocation Tariff, issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and prepared by Winfield Micro Systems on file and viewable in our office.
